This is our new project. The carriage house requires a ton of work and should be on TV :) It is really cool.

Upstairs is framed in
Just some pics of kids rooms ( you can see the opening in bottom right corner. Currenty halfwall there but will have an iron railing when done) , Master room (bath and closet) and half wall for staircase
New Stuff
Well, the new portico is under construction. We considered changing the appearance of it. However, it was decided to stay true to the original design. It is a historic home after all.
The inside will be totally different though. We removed a wall ( which brought the room back to its original state). We kept the opening that was covered with 2 doors ( we think the workers dropped hay or something down from 2nd story to the carriage). However, we moved the staircase to the other side of interior brick wall. We are still getting bids for an iron railing. :)

With that all said, we were surprised with a new feature, the "skylight". Part of the attic floor was opened up next to a dormer and is all framed in to be a skylight
You can see this skylight through the opening from the ground level. That is pretty cool .
The utility room is up in attic now as well

Portico is down ...
... and in the dumpster. Yes, it was in too poor condition to keep so we will have to build a new one. Nowe that it is down, we found some more brick damage. No Problems, our tuck pointer can fix it. It will just take about a week. I may need to hire a 2nd tuck pointer for a week though.
Suzy is out staining some of the rafters today. Pic of portico-less house coming soon.
Just in:
Suzy took a bunch of pics of Portico during its deconstruction. We will give them to the contractor to build us a new one.

We Have Windows!
Okay, our doors have arrived, stairs are almost usable and the windows are in and have been inspected. (except for the new one). Now for the window casings. Some windows still need brickwork done to them. House is looking much better and the dormers are done enough for the roofing crew to come in an finish the job. I expect a lot to happen this coming week :)
Back To Framing
Okay, Suzy I brought out the cabinets, with a lot of help from Bob ;) We figured out where to place to cabinets and stuff and which cabinets will end up elsewhere ( like the laundry room). We got used cabinets out of a really nice house for a great deal. I hope they will get us by for a while. As you can see in the pics below, we have new portals cut out for the new window and door on our west wall.
We got started on the new staircase as well ..
